Overview

Stiftung Frauen-Literatur-Forschung e. V. was a non-profit association founded in Bremen, Germany, in 1986 and dissolved in 2016. Its central mission was to research, secure, make visible, and make available for scholarly use the literary work of women authors and translators who had published in German in Germany since 1945. From 1992 it maintained a close cooperation with the University of Bremen. The association was the institutional sponsor and operator of the database Schriftstellerinnen in Deutschland 1945 ff. (DaSinD), a reference resource on German-language women writers. It initiated cooperations and networks for and among specialist scholars, supported Germanistic and literary-studies discussion and research, and organized seminars, workshops, and conferences. It engaged in literary-studies and cultural-policy contexts, published the Inter-Lit book series, and organized events, discussions, and presentations for a broad public. From 2006 the project DaSinD Texte was built up, offering thematically focused quotations from literary publications by German-language women writers from all centuries. Within the DaSinD Texte project, the scholarly database reflexA. Literarische Spiegelszenen von Frauen gathered quotations on the "mirror theme in German-language literature written by women." The association's work was financed primarily through membership fees and donations. Revenue generated by the DaSinD usage fee went directly to work on the Schriftstellerinnen in Deutschland 1945 ff. database. The association provided places for interns and volunteers, and through so-called integration jobs offered long-term unemployed women the opportunity to train for re-entry into working life. From 1999 it published the Inter-Lit book series (ISSN 1618-663X). It was connected through memberships and cooperations with institutions and individuals at home and abroad, including the Internationale Buchwissenschaftliche Gesellschaft, FrideL: Frauen in der Literaturwissenschaft, Literaturhaus Bremen, Forschungsstelle Quellen und Kultur, BücherFrauen, and the Deutsche Literaturkonferenz. On 13 July 2016 the members' assembly resolved to dissolve the association. The DaSinD database and all working papers and correspondence were handed over on 30 March 2017 to the Archiv der deutschen Frauenbewegung of the Stiftung Archiv der deutschen Frauenbewegung in Kassel. The data were to be fed into the archive's catalogue after adaptation and made searchable there.
