Overview
The Stiftung der Deutschen Polizeigewerkschaft (DPolG-Stiftung) is a foundation whose purpose is to selflessly support employees and pension recipients of the police and security authorities in the Federal Republic of Germany, or their surviving dependants (widows, orphans), who depend on the help of others because of their physical, mental or emotional condition. Support is provided in the form of benefits in kind and one-off or recurring grants. Its goal is to provide nationwide support to police officers injured on duty and to members of other security authorities — for example from the judiciary, customs or professional fire service — and their families, as well as to surviving dependants of deceased persons from this group. The foundation's support is not reserved for union members but is available independently of membership to the group of persons defined by the foundation's purpose. It operates foundation houses in Fall, Lenggries and Niedernach, and accepts monetary or in-kind donations.
History
In 1997, 100,000 DM from DPolG members formed the initial capital for the founding of the foundation. In 1998, the first houses in Fall and Niedernach were rented, the rented houses were cleared out, and a donation collection was held for start-up financing. In 2000, the main house and bungalow "8" in Fall were renovated, followed by an opening celebration with an official ceremony for the main house and bungalow.
Products and positioning
A foundation providing selfless support to injured police and security-authority personnel and their surviving dependants, independent of union membership.
