Overview

The Gutsverwaltung Stift St. Peter in Dornbach is one of the oldest agricultural and forestry operations in the city of Vienna. It manages vineyards, a forest, and rental properties, and operates a traditional Buschenschank (wine tavern).

History

In 1042, Count Sieghard of the Sieghardingers donated two hides of land at the Alsbach near Vienna to the monastery of St. Peter in Salzburg. The estate was damaged in the Turkish wars and later by a major fire in the mid-19th century, but the old cellar vaults survived. Today, the Gutsverwaltung Dornbach manages rental properties, the monastery forest, and a wine tavern with vineyards.
