Overview
SteelHome (钢之家) is a Chinese steel-industry information, data and digital-commerce platform operated by Shanghai SteelHome Information Technology Co., Ltd. (上海钢之家信息科技有限公司). The company was registered on 28 September 2004, and its flagship website, steelhome.com, went live on 1 November 2004. At launch it also introduced the SteelHome price index (SHPI/SHSPI), described by the company as China's first institution to publish a steel price index daily. The platform serves the steel value chain — steel producers, traders and logistics firms, raw-material and coal-coke-chemical suppliers, construction-materials companies, downstream users, as well as financial, securities and futures clients, government bodies, industry associations and research institutes. SteelHome's core offering is market intelligence: daily spot quotations and price indices for products such as rebar, hot-rolled coil, welded pipe, carbon structural steel, stainless steel, billet, iron ore (PB fines), scrap, coke, coking coal, ferroalloys and other raw materials; weekly and monthly market research reports; capacity-utilization and inventory surveys; and international steel and raw-material coverage. Its homepage displays live price snapshots across Chinese steel hubs (Shanghai, Tianjin, Hangzhou, Wuxi, Tangshan, Qingdao, Zhangjiagang, Linfen, Anze, Ningxia, Inner Mongolia, Liaoning) and publishes forecasts, market reports and industry news. Beyond information, SteelHome has built a digital-commerce and technology-services business. In July 2011 it formed a joint venture with China Railway Materials Group (中铁物资集团) to create China Bulk Materials Network (中国大宗物资网), which launched in 2012. In September 2015 it launched the Yigang Yunshang (易钢云商, Internet Steel Exchange Cloud) e-commerce platform, a fourth-party platform integrating online spot trading, online payment, supply-chain finance, inventory management, warehousing and logistics, CRM and market information. SteelHome also develops digital marketing and big-data platforms for steel mills, including projects with Nanjing Steel (南钢), Shaanxi Steel (陕钢), Xingang (新钢), Shandong Steel (山钢) and Ma'anshan Steel (马钢). In May 2020 SteelHome brought in a strategic investor, Ouyeel Cloud Commerce (欧冶云商), which is controlled by China Baowu, completing a mixed-ownership reform. The company positions itself as an "independent third-party steel professional information, commerce and digital-intelligence platform" and states its operating principle as "provide convenience, create value." It has been certified as a national high-tech enterprise and a Pudong New Area R&D institution, and reports more than 200 software copyrights and 2 patents, along with ISO-type certifications for intellectual property, IT services and quality management. It also runs the annual "National Steel Trade and Logistics Enterprises Top 100 Integrity and Brand Suppliers" showcase, held 16 consecutive times from 2010 to 2025, with the 17th edition launched on 28 July 2026.
History
Shanghai SteelHome Information Technology Co., Ltd. was registered on 28 September 2004, and the SteelHome website (steelhome.com) went live on 1 November 2004. At the same time the SteelHome price index (SHPI/SHSPI) was launched, which the company describes as making it the first institution in China to publish a steel price index daily. The platform was built as a comprehensive steel-industry website combining market information, data consulting, research reports, brand planning, e-commerce and information technology services. In 2006 SteelHome held its first "Global Steel Looks to China" themed conference in Shanghai, and Chairman Wu Wenzhang was invited to steel industry strategy conferences in New York and Amsterdam, marking the company's entry onto the international steel stage. In 2007 the first SteelHome Zongheng Steel Market Club meeting was held in Shanghai, deepening its professional information service model through seminars and discussions. In 2009 SteelHome signed an iron ore price index cooperation agreement with the UK's Metal Bulletin (Fastmarkets MB), under which MBIOI became the first iron ore price index jointly developed with a Chinese partner. In 2011 SteelHome was recognized as a national high-tech enterprise and received Shanghai SME "brand service" and other honors. In July 2011 it formed a joint venture with China Railway Materials Group to create China Bulk Materials Network (中国大宗物资网), which officially launched in 2012. In 2014 the company was named a Shanghai "specialized, refined, distinctive and innovative" (专精特新) SME leader, and Chairman Wu Wenzhang was named a Pujiang SME leader. In September 2015 the Yigang Yunshang (易钢云商, Internet Steel Exchange Cloud) e-commerce platform went live, built on the website's "online steel market" section and designed as a fourth-party platform integrating online spot trading, online payment, supply-chain finance, inventory management, warehousing and logistics, CRM, office automation and market information. From 2017 SteelHome expanded into digital services for steel mills. It signed and delivered the "Nanjing Steel · SteelHome Marketing Business Model and Big Data Platform" project, and subsequently cooperated on digital-intelligence service projects with Shaanxi Steel, Xingang and Shandong Steel. In 2018, working with Ma'anshan Steel, the "Ma'anshan Steel Construction Steel Informatized Sales and Settlement Platform" that SteelHome independently developed and operated was selected by the Internet Society of China as a "digital industrial-financial collaboration typical case." In May 2020 SteelHome introduced the strategic investor Ouyeel Cloud Commerce (欧冶云商), controlled by China Baowu, to jointly build a steel ecosystem value community and completed a mixed-ownership reform. In 2022 its "steel enterprise digital-intelligence marketing service platform" was selected as a Pudong New Area digital transformation project, and in 2023 it was named an Anhui Province big-data enterprise. SteelHome has also built a long-running industry recognition program: the "National Steel Trade and Logistics Enterprises Top 100 Integrity and Brand Suppliers" showcase, held for 16 consecutive editions from 2010 to 2025, with the 17th edition launched on 28 July 2026. The company reports more than 200 software copyrights and 2 patents, and certifications in intellectual property, IT service and quality management systems. It states that it serves more than 300,000 member units globally and has hosted more than 16,000 exhibiting enterprises.
