Staylittle Music

Staylittle Music is a Welsh independent record label and live music promoter operating with a strong DIY ethos. Based in Pontypridd in south Wales, the label has spent several years releasing albums, singles and EPs from a selection of rising Welsh acts under the Staylittle Music banner. Its roster has featured artists including Climbing Trees, Colenso Jones, Hazel & Grey, Mahogany Fire Surround, Matthew Frederick, The Minerals and Tendons. Beyond recorded music, Staylittle Music runs two connected strands of activity. Staylittle Sessions was a television programme produced alongside Artifact Multimedia and originally aired on Made In Cardiff TV in mid-2015; presented by Matthew Frederick of Climbing Trees, it combined music and conversation with a weekly guest, filmed at Globetrotters Bar in Pontypridd. Staylittle Presents is the label's live events arm, staging shows in a wide variety of spaces across Wales — clubs, art centres, galleries, theatres, museums, churches, chapels, hostels, recording studios and festivals. The organisation has built links with bodies including BBC Cymru Wales, Menter Iaith RHCT, New Sound Wales and Pontypridd Town Council, and has collaborated on events at Rhondda Arts Festival, Tymor yr Haf, Parti Ponty and LINKFEST. It regularly works with local venues such as Y Muni, Clwb y Bont, Parc Arts and Amgueddfa Pontypridd. Its showcased performers span a broad cross-section of the Welsh music scene, from solo singer-songwriters to choirs such as Côr Meibion Pontypridd and Côr y Bryn. As a small independent label rooted in its local community, Staylittle Music functions as both a record label and an events promoter, using its platform to support emerging Welsh talent and to connect audiences with music in unconventional and community venues.
