History
The history page of Stadtwerke Bad Aibling records that in 1894 the Elektrizitätswerk Bad Aibling was built by O. I. Kummer & Co. AG, with a water-powered Francis turbine producing 150 PS and seven arc lamps bringing light to the main square and wide side streets. In 1906 the city of Bad Aibling bought the electricity works for 264,000 RM. By 1913, after conversions and expansions, the works comprised three machine units: a machine unit for normal operation, an accumulator battery with an additional unit, and a reserve unit; connected were 4,375 lamps, 20 arc lamps, 16 agricultural operations, 26 commercial operations, 6 woodworking machines and 2 hotel operations. In 1928 further direct-current units were put into operation. In 1932 a remotely charged battery was installed in the city center to absorb peak loads. In 1946 energy quantities for citizens were rationed. In 1954 the conversion from direct current to three-phase current was completed. In 1960, in the course of building a sanatorium on Kolbermoorer Straße, a second feed-in from the overland grid was realized with the Isar-Amperwerke. From 1963 to 1970 capacity and grid were expanded step by step for permanently rising demand and new building areas. In 1971, in connection with developing the well in Willing, a 20 kV double cable was laid through the Mangfall to the power plant to relieve the old facility and create reserves. From 1974 to 1980 further ring lines and transformer stations covered rising demand. From 1980 to 1983 the leisure facility was built and a transformer station was constructed. In 1990 a new 110/20 kV feed-in was established by the Isar-Amperwerke. In 1994 consumption was 65 million kWh and the Stadtwerke maintained 1,700 street lamps. In 2010 the new control center at Triftbach was built and commissioned. In 2011 the electricity supply network in the former ... was taken over.
