Overview

STL stands for Stadtreinigungs-, Transport- und Baubetrieb Lüdenscheid. The STL is not only a modern specialist company for disposal and cleaning services, but also a modern municipal construction operation. It is a municipal company responsible for cleaning, transport and construction in Lüdenscheid, Germany.

History

In 1991, the then 'Stadtreinigungs- und Fuhramt' was converted into the Stadtreinigungs- und Transportbetrieb Lüdenscheid – STL for short – and has since been run as an eigenbetriebsähnliche Einrichtung (an institution similar to a municipal enterprise) of the city of Lüdenscheid. In 1995, the executing areas of the Tiefbau-, Hochbau-, Sport- und Gartenamt were integrated into this institution. The name was changed to Stadtreinigungs-, Transport- und Baubetrieb Lüdenscheid – the abbreviation remained: STL. In contrast to a conventional office of the city administration, the STL is an organizationally and financially independent institution without its own legal personality. Due to constantly new requirements in the field of waste disposal, the STL developed from a 'garbage collection' to a modern specialist company for disposal and cleaning services. The extensive construction measures carried out since 1997 were completed in 2000. The recycling yard could be put into operation for the citizens of the city of Lüdenscheid at the beginning of 2000. At the beginning of 2003, the Straßen- und Grünflächenamt was incorporated into the STL.
