Stadtreinigung Hamburg (SRH) is a municipal waste management company in Germany. Its website notes that organized waste disposal has not existed for very long, and that the history of waste disposal in Hamburg spans from the 17th century to the present, including the commissioning of the first waste incineration plant on the European mainland. At the end of the 1920s, dust-free waste collection was introduced in Hamburg, replacing horse-drawn carts with modern refuse trucks using a bin-emptying system. The SRH also commemorates forced labourers during the Second World War as part of its historical reappraisal.
