Overview

Städtische Werke Magdeburg GmbH & Co. KG, branded SWM Magdeburg, is a German energy company headquartered at Am Blauen Bock 1 in Magdeburg. Its official website presents offerings for private and business customers including electricity, gas, heat pumps, wallboxes, and photovoltaic systems, along with energy seminars and customer referral programs. The company is building a new corporate headquarters at the site of the former Blauer Bock building, which it acquired in 2014.

History

In 2014, the real estate management company Prelios sold the site of the old Blauer Bock to SWM, which planned to build its new corporate headquarters there. Demolition of the old Blauer Bock began in May 2016, producing around 15,000 tonnes of concrete and construction rubble, much of which was recycled by the construction company. A segment with four windows and tiles was preserved from destruction.
