Splendid Medien AG describes itself as a mid-sized, integrated media group that has operated for more than 50 years, primarily in German-speaking Europe and the Benelux countries. It markets and produces films and entertainment programming in cinema, home entertainment and SVOD/television, and provides extensive services to the film and television industry with a focus on digitization, content management and synchronization. The group was founded in 1974 as the sole proprietorship "Splendid" by Albert E. Klein and has developed over the decades into the Splendid Gruppe in its current form. Its shares were listed on the Deutsche Börse in Frankfurt between 1999 and the end of 2024, with delisting effective at the end of 16 December 2024.

Klein joined the Splendid Film founded by his father Albert E. Klein in 1974 in 1980, built up and expanded in particular the home entertainment and post-production areas, and founded the group companies Splendid Synchron, Enteractive and Splendid Entertainment. The group's shares were listed on the Deutsche Börse in Frankfurt between 1999 and the end of 2024, with delisting effective at the end of 16 December 2024.
