Overview
Speedmail Sp. z o.o. is a Polish private postal operator and the largest alternative postal operator in Poland, second only to the state-owned Poczta Polska in handling bulk correspondence for business and institutional senders. The company was entered into the Register of Postal Operators kept by the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) in September 2011 under number B-00409, and it traces its origins to the Emerson Polska group, one of the largest lettershops in Central and Eastern Europe. It delivers ordinary letters, registered letters, addressed and unaddressed marketing mail, and small-goods shipments through a network of more than 100 distribution points and over 3,500 standardised delivery districts covering most large and medium-sized cities across Poland. Speedmail positions itself as a technology-driven postal operator. In 2012 it became the first postal operator on the Polish market to introduce track-and-trace for all categories of letter mail, including ordinary letters and marketing correspondence. Working with the Targeo.pl service, it launched the Speedmail Targeo Report (STR) platform for verifying delivery correctness, and in August 2020 it added a GPS on-line system for real-time monitoring of the delivery process, a project recognised by the Polish Logistics Society (PTL) at the eLogistics 2021 Polish Logistics Congress. Other proprietary tools include Greenweb, an application for managing office correspondence introduced in 2014, and an Electronic Proof of Delivery system launched in early 2021 that allows biometric signatures on mobile devices at notification points. The company's offer is aimed at banks, telecommunications operators, cable television providers, insurance companies, marketing agencies, foundations, local government units and e-commerce stores. Its main services are the distribution of ordinary letters, registered letters and registered letters with return receipt (ZPO), addressed marketing mail, addressed and unaddressed printed matter under the Targetmail and Listingmail formats, the Listopaczka format combining features of a registered letter and a courier shipment, fulfilment services, a reporting system, and the Greenweb correspondence platform. In November 2020 Speedmail launched the so-called Listopaczka, aimed primarily at the e-commerce sector for small, low-value products that online stores can send at the standard and price of an ordinary letter while benefiting from courier-style monitoring and delivery confirmation. Speedmail has received a number of awards, including the Gazela Biznesu title in 2021 and 2022 in the ranking of small and medium-sized companies organised by the Puls Biznesu daily, a distinction in the 2021 Polish Logistics Society award competition for its online letter delivery tracking project, the Supplier Of The Year 2018 title in the PROCON Awards logistics services category, the Consumer Quality Leader 2018 Bronze Emblem in the postal services category, a distinction in the 2015 Procon Awards logistics services category, and the Business Premium 2014 award from Bloomberg Businessweek Polska. In the 2021 Ranking of accessibility of postal company websites commissioned by UKE, Speedmail's website took first place in the opinion of consultants analysing site accessibility and third place out of 15 surveyed companies in the final ranking. The company also engages in CSR activities with foundations and public benefit organisations, including support for the Dr Clown Foundation's 1% campaign in April 2021 and the (P)OKAŻ SERCE social campaign in February 2023.
History
Speedmail has operated on the Polish postal market since September 2011, when it was entered into the Register of Postal Operators maintained by the Office of Electronic Communications (UKE) under number B-00409. The company originates from the Emerson Polska group, one of the largest lettershops in Central and Eastern Europe. It is currently the largest alternative postal operator in Poland and the second operator after Poczta Polska handling bulk correspondence for business and institutional senders. The company delivers letter and marketing mail through a network of more than 100 outlets located in most large and medium-sized cities in the country. In 2012 Speedmail, as the first postal operator on the Polish market, introduced a track-and-trace service for all categories of letter mail, including ordinary letters and marketing correspondence. This service, known primarily from the courier industry, allows the delivery status of a shipment to be tracked at every stage of distribution. In the same year, in cooperation with the operator of the Targeo.pl service, it launched a special platform called Speedmail Targeo Report (STR), featuring modern mechanisms for verifying the correctness of shipment deliveries. In August 2020 the company expanded this service by introducing a GPS on-line system enabling real-time supervision of the delivery process. The implementation of this project was recognised with an award from the Polish Logistics Society (PTL), presented during the eLogistics 2021 Polish Logistics Congress. The company places great emphasis on the continuous development of technologies that improve the delivery process and facilitate correspondence handling. In 2014 it introduced Greenweb, an application for comprehensive management of office correspondence, which enables, among other things, the generation of sender books, the creation of ZPO (return receipt) printouts, and facilitates the preparation of envelope imprints and address labels with the postal fee mark. At the beginning of 2021 Speedmail implemented an Electronic Proof of Delivery system, which allows a biometric signature to be placed on a mobile device at notification points. In the 'Ranking of accessibility of postal company websites 2021', prepared on behalf of the Office of Electronic Communications, Speedmail's website took first place in the opinion of consultants analysing website accessibility. In the final ranking, which also took into account expert opinions, Speedmail took third place out of 15 surveyed companies involved in delivering letters and parcels. Along with the development of IT solutions, the company is expanding the scope of its services by introducing new shipment formats. In November 2020 Speedmail announced the launch of the so-called Listopaczka, aimed primarily at the e-commerce industry. This format was created for small, low-value products that online stores can send at the standard and price of an ordinary letter, but with the benefits of a courier shipment (shipment monitoring and delivery confirmation). Speedmail's offer is directed at companies such as banks, telecommunications operators, cable television providers, insurance companies, marketing agencies, foundations, local government units, and e-shops. Its main services include the distribution of ordinary letters; the distribution of registered letters, including registered letters with return receipt (ZPO); the distribution of marketing mail (addressed advertising materials); the distribution of addressed and unaddressed printed matter under the Targetmail and Listingmail formats; Listopaczka; fulfilment services related to preparing, packing, marking and other logistics activities; a reporting system enabling the status of a shipment to be known at the delivery stage; and Greenweb, a platform for handling office correspondence. Among the company's awards are the Gazela Biznesu title in 2021 and 2022 in the ranking of small and medium-sized companies organised by the Puls Biznesu daily; a distinction in the competition for the Polish Logistics Society Award 2021 for the project 'Introduction of online tracking of letter delivery'; the Supplier Of The Year 2018 title for winning the 5th edition of the PROCON Awards in the logistics services category; the Consumer Quality Leader 2018 Bronze Emblem in the postal services category; a distinction in the Procon Awards 2015 in the logistics services category; and Business Premium 2014, an award of the Bloomberg Businessweek Polska weekly given to companies with a particularly attractive product or service offer aimed at the business sector. In cooperation with a number of foundations and public benefit organisations, Speedmail is also involved in corporate social responsibility (CSR) activities. In April 2021 the company supported the 1% campaign run by the Dr Clown Foundation. The campaign carried out at that time was included in the report 'Responsible business in Poland 2021. Good practices' prepared by the Responsible Business Forum (FOB). In February 2023 Speedmail supported the (P)OKAŻ SERCE social campaign organised by the Clinic of Oncology and Oncological Surgery for Children and Adolescents of the Mother and Child Institute on the occasion of the International Childhood Cancer Day.
