Overview
Soyora Shonan Chigasaki is an urban-style shopping center located along National Route 1 near Chigasaki Station in Chigasaki, Kanagawa Prefecture, Japan. It is operated by AEON Retail Co., Ltd., a core company of the AEON Group. The facility originally opened on March 1, 1995, as 'Chigasaki Saty,' developed by Nichii Co., Ltd. (later Mycal). The site was previously occupied by a Nippon Seibaku factory. Over the years, the shopping center underwent several rebrandings: in 2011, following the merger of Mycal into AEON Retail, it was renamed 'AEON Chigasaki'; in 2015, it was converted to the 'AEON Style' format and renamed 'AEON Style Shonan Chigasaki'; and on June 1, 2023, it was rebranded as 'Soyora Shonan Chigasaki,' becoming the fourth 'Soyora' location and the first in the Kanto region. The AEON Style store was reduced to the first floor and renovated to focus on food, including expanded frozen foods and the introduction of 'RegiGo' self-checkout. The center also houses specialty stores such as Kohnan, Hands Bee, Daiso, Standard Products, THREEPPY, and Nojima, as well as AEON Cinema Chigasaki, a cinema complex that has been in operation since the facility's opening. The facility features a large digital signage system. It differentiates itself from the nearby AEON Chigasaki Chuo store, which focuses on clothing and children's goods, by emphasizing food and daily necessities.
History
The site of Soyora Shonan Chigasaki was formerly occupied by a factory of Nippon Seibaku. On March 1, 1995, 'Chigasaki Saty' opened, operated by Nichii Co., Ltd. (renamed Mycal in 1996). The shopping center was a typical Saty store, a general merchandise supermarket format. On March 1, 2011, Mycal was absorbed into AEON Retail Co., Ltd., and the store was renamed 'AEON Chigasaki.' The integration ceremony for the merger was held at this store. On September 18, 2015, the store was renovated and converted to the 'AEON Style' format, becoming 'AEON Style Shonan Chigasaki.' In February 2023, the clothing and children's goods sections were closed, and renovation began. On June 1, 2023, the store was rebranded as 'Soyora Shonan Chigasaki,' the fourth 'Soyora' location and the first in the Kanto region. The AEON Style store was reduced to the first floor and renovated to focus on food, with expanded frozen foods and the introduction of 'RegiGo' self-checkout. The pharmacy and daily necessities sections were also renovated, and pet supplies were enhanced. Specialty stores such as Kohnan and Hands Bee opened simultaneously, and Daiso, Standard Products, and THREEPPY opened three formats at once. Nojima doubled its store area. AEON Cinema (formerly Warner Mycal Cinemas) has been in operation since the opening of Chigasaki Saty, making this the first 'Soyora' brand facility with a cinema complex. A large digital signage system was installed in the facility.
