Overview
The Southern Railway was a Class I railroad in the United States, formed in 1894 through a merger of several railroads. Its network primarily served the Southern states, including Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee. In 1982, it merged with the Norfolk and Western Railway to form the Norfolk Southern Railway.
