History
Sound Pellegrino was created in Paris in March 2009 by Teki Latex and Orgasmic, two artists connected to the French alternative rap group TTC. Rather than beginning immediately as a fully independent company, the imprint was initially established as a sub-label of Institubes. This arrangement gave the new label an institutional framework while allowing its founders to curate a distinct catalogue oriented toward electronic, house and club music. The first phase of Sound Pellegrino's activity produced a sequence of singles and EPs by both emerging and established producers. Early releases included work by Zombie Disco Squad, Douster, Harvard Bass, Renaissance Man, Momma's Boy, Gucci Vump, L-Vis 1990, Solo, Nouveau Yorican, Bart B More, Teki Latex and Para One. These releases positioned the imprint within an international club-music network rather than limiting it to a purely French roster. The label's first 15 releases appeared under the Institubes umbrella. In December 2010, Sound Pellegrino moved into an independent phase. Panteros666's Kegstand / X Lova / Horreo EP served as the first release associated with the label after that separation. The catalogue then expanded through releases by Savage Skulls, High Powered Boys, Style of Eye, TWR72, Noob, Bok Bok and Tom Trago, Matthias Zimmermann, Joakim, Bambounou, Maelstrom, Aero Manyelo, Teeth, Crystal, Eero Johannes, Joe Howe, Track ID, Koyote, Doline and Loom. Its output covered a broad but coherent area of club music, including bass, techno, house, electro and experimental dance production. A significant part of the label's public identity came from the Sound Pellegrino Thermal Team, the duo formed by Teki Latex and Orgasmic. The pair DJed and produced under that name from the label's inception, later issuing their own recordings. Their debut Bassface EP appeared in July 2011, followed by a remix release and later material such as Strange Touch (My House) / Ice Palace and Activate / I Be. The project connected the label's curatorial role with the founders' own performance and production work. Sound Pellegrino also developed a compilation programme. One To Ten and Straight From The Spring documented the label's early period, while Les Jeunes Années and the later SND.PE series presented broader snapshots of its aesthetic. The SND.PE releases included Crossover Series, Raw Club Material, Sound Pellegrino x Wasabeat, Melodic Mechanisms and a volume mixed by Teki Latex and Orgasmic. The label also issued a self-titled album by Matthias Zimmermann in 2016, alongside that artist's Momentum Series and other releases. Orgasmic separately curated Expect No Less, a vinyl-only sub-label. Its documented catalogue included XPNL001 by an unidentified artist and Deke Soto's XPNL002. This activity reflected Sound Pellegrino's interest in small-format, collector-oriented physical releases in addition to digital distribution and conventional EP campaigns. From 2011 to 2014, the Sound Pellegrino Podcast served as a weekly platform for label material and a wider selection of club and electronic music. The series later resumed with episode 103 in 2019 after a reported five-year interruption. Reference material identifies Teki Latex, Orgasmic and Emile Shahidi as the people currently running the label, although detailed information about their individual responsibilities and the label's current release activity is limited. No reliable information was supplied about revenue, ownership structure, staff size, listed status or formal corporate registration. Sound Pellegrino is therefore best characterized as a specialist independent electronic-music imprint with a substantial historical catalogue and a founder-led identity.
