Overview
SONGHYUN Holdings (Korean: 송현홀딩스) is the holding company of SONGHYUN Group, a South Korean industrial group whose products are used in ships, automobiles, high-rise buildings and other large structures. The group traces its origins to Seojin Industrial Co., Ltd. (서진공업㈜), founded in July 1991 as a wire and cable manufacturer. Over the following decades the business expanded from shipboard cable production into optical cable, fasteners and related component technologies, and in December 2012 the group adopted a holding-company structure with the launch of SONGHYUN Holdings. In February 2013 the group formally became SONGHYUN Group. The group's core affiliates include TMC, a maker of marine cables and a KOSPI-listed company as of December 2025; KPF, a fastener manufacturer acquired in 2008; GlowOne, an LED lighting company formerly known as POSCO LED; and SBB TECH, which was listed on KOSDAQ in October 2022. SONGHYUN Holdings itself is the group's holding entity, based at Songhyun Tower in Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do. Its products are largely invisible components — cables that carry signals and power inside vessels over 300 metres long, and fasteners that hold together bridges spanning more than 10 kilometres — positioning the group as a supplier of core component technologies rather than finished consumer goods. The group states a vision of being a "Creative Solution Company with Advanced Technology," creating and providing future value for customers through core component technologies, with core values of Challenge, Innovation and Harmony and the slogan "SONGHYUN reaching out to the world." Its affiliates have received numerous recognitions, including KPF's selection as a Myeongmun Jangsu Enterprise (longevity enterprise) by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in November 2024, TMC's KOSPI listing in December 2025, and various labour-management culture and quality-supplier awards. SONGHYUN Holdings continues to manage the group's portfolio and capital structure, including a 2026 share cancellation of 400,000 redeemable convertible preferred shares.
History
SONGHYUN Holdings traces its roots to Seojin Industrial Co., Ltd. (서진공업㈜), established on 29 July 1991 as a wire and cable manufacturer. In January 2000 the company began producing shipboard cables, and in October 2000 it started optical cable production. In July 2002 it changed its name to Seojin Optronics Co., Ltd. (서진옵토닉스), and in March 2005 it adopted the name TMC Co., Ltd. That same year TMC obtained nine classification society certifications for shipboard cables and NEK 606 certification, and completed its Ipjang factory in December 2005. In March 2008 SONGHYUN acquired KPF, a fastener manufacturer, expanding its business portfolio. In December 2012, through a spin-off (injeok bunhal), the shipboard cable and insulated optical cable manufacturing business was transferred to a newly established company, TMC Co., Ltd., and SONGHYUN Holdings was launched as a holding company. On 29 December 2012, SONGHYUN Holdings absorbed NK Co., Ltd., a seller of non-ferrous metals and rubber products, and on 1 July 2013 it absorbed Namgang Heavy Industries, a steel wholesale/retail business, and Kyuchang Partners, a management consulting firm. In February 2013 the group transitioned to a holding company system and SONGHYUN Group was formally launched. Throughout the 2010s the group continued to expand. In November 2011 KPF established a Chinese subsidiary, KPF Jinan. In 2016 POSCO LED changed its name to GlowOne, and in October 2017 GlowOne acquired SKC's lighting division. In September 2018 KPF acquired SBB TECH. In July 2021 KPF acquired TMC, the domestic leader in shipboard cables. In June 2022 SONGHYUN Holdings absorbed SH Financial Stability Investment. In October 2022 SBB TECH was listed on KOSDAQ. In December 2025 TMC successfully completed an IPO and listed on KOSPI. SONGHYUN Holdings itself is the group's holding company, responsible for managing the group's portfolio and capital structure. In September 2026 it announced a capital reduction through the cancellation of 400,000 redeemable convertible preferred shares held as treasury stock, reducing capital from KRW 8,415,420,000 to KRW 4,415,420,000, with a creditor objection period from 22 September to 23 October 2026.
