Soda Rock Winery

Soda Rock Winery is a Californian winery in Alexander Valley, Sonoma County. Its site dates to 1869 and was the original location of the Alexander Valley general store and post office, with historic records showing the first bonded winery on the property in 1880. Ken and Diane Wilson purchased the property in 2000 and launched a long-term restoration of the stone buildings and water tower. The winery offers daily tasting flights of at least four award-winning Soda Rock wines, primarily Bordeaux varieties, at its Barn Tasting Room in Alexander Valley and its Downtown Healdsburg Tasting Room at Old Roma Station. Winemaker Antoine Favero crafts the wines, which have earned hundreds of gold medals and numerous 90+ ratings.

Soda Rock Winery is steeped in history, with its site dating to 1869. Historic records provide evidence of the first bonded winery on the property in 1880. Many locals remember Soda Rock Winery from the 1980s, when the Tomka family temporarily revived the old site. When Ken and Diane Wilson purchased the property in 2000, the charm seen today was just a vision in Ken's imagination; after years of neglect, the local landmark had fallen into serious disrepair. Recognizing the property's historic value and appreciating the architecture of the stone buildings and water tower, Ken launched Soda Rock's long-term restoration plan, using recycled and green materials whenever possible. In 2019, post-Kincade Fire, the winery acknowledged the loss of its main tasting facility and continued hosting daily out of its historic 'Wedding Barn' and Downtown Healdsburg Tasting Room location.
