Overview
Sociologija. Mintis ir veiksmas (Sociology: Thought and Action) is a Lithuanian academic journal dedicated to the critical analysis of contemporary social and cultural change, the development of social theory, and the evolving self-understanding of sociology. It was first published in 1997 and appears twice a year, in July and December. The journal is published jointly by two academic institutions: the Department of Sociology at the Faculty of Philosophy of Vilnius University and the Department of Sociology at Klaipėda University. The journal's content is dominated by social theory and the methodological presuppositions of social knowledge, alongside a strong presence of political sociology, gender studies, nationalism, the sociology of art, social stratification, criminology, and social identity. To foster academic dialogue and interdisciplinary connections, it publishes not only sociological research but also studies from social psychology, philosophy, history, political science, and anthropology. Recently published original sociological books and their translations receive detailed and critical reviews. Articles are peer-reviewed and published in Lithuanian and English. Approximately 15% of the journal's texts are written by foreign authors in English. The texts of the latest issue are available either on the journal's website or in databases that index the journal. The journal thus serves as a bilingual platform connecting Lithuanian sociological scholarship with international debates.
