Société d'encouragement à l'élevage du cheval français

Le Trot, formally known as the Société d'encouragement à l'élevage du cheval français, is the body governing trotting in France. It is one of the two parent societies of French racing, organising trotting races while France Galop organises flat and jump racing. The organisation issues the code governing trotting races and maintains the stud book of the French Trotter. French trotting is run in two disciplines, harness racing and mounted trotting; in 2025 the programme comprised 11,124 races at 211 racecourses over 1,477 meetings, of which 29 were classified Group 1, 87 Group 2 and 113 Group 3. As the central authority for the sport, Le Trot oversees a nationwide calendar of meetings and sets the regulatory framework for trotting in France.
