Smitten Ice Cream was founded by Robyn Sue Fisher. In 2007, she began inventing and developing her own ice cream machine that could churn fresh, ultra-smooth scoops in less than 90 seconds. In 2009, she became a rogue street cart vendor, bringing her prototype Brrr® Machine atop a Radio Flyer® wagon to the streets of San Francisco. In 2011, she opened Smitten's first shop in a repurposed shipping container in San Francisco. In 2016, a shop opened in San Jose's Santana Row. In 2017, Smitten opened in San Francisco's Mission District.
