SMEG is an Italian home appliance manufacturer based in Guastalla, near Reggio Emilia, in the northern Italian region of Emilia-Romagna. Founded in 1948 by Vittorio Bertazzoni, Sr., SMEG produces a range of major and small appliances, including refrigerators, ovens, cooktops, and kettles, often featuring retro-inspired design. The company has subsidiaries worldwide and collaborates with designers and brands such as Dolce&Gabbana and Porsche.

SMEG was founded in 1948 by Vittorio Bertazzoni, Sr. in Guastalla, near Reggio Emilia, Italy. In 1955, production of ranges began, with the first SMEG brand cooker 'Elisabeth' presented in 1956. In 1963, the company presented 'Leda,' the first SMEG-branded washing machine. In 1970, 'Niagara' was released, the world's first 14-place setting dishwasher. In 1971, production of built-in appliances such as ovens and hobs began. In 1977, Franco Maria Ricci created the Smeg logo. In 1979, Smeg sponsored the Ferrari Formula 1 team. In 1985, the company began working with architect Guido Canali. In 1991, collaboration with Mario Bellini began. In 1995, collaboration with Renzo Piano began. In 1997, the FAB range of fridges was created. In 2002, Guido Canali designed the new SMEG Headquarters.
