History
According to the group's history page, companies that would later become the foundation of the Smart Holding investment group were created in 1995, specializing in the supply of materials for the mining and metallurgical industries and in trading metallurgical products and equipment. On 7 October 1999, TOV 'Smart-group' was created to manage Smart Holding's investment portfolio in the mining and metallurgical complex. In 2000, under an investment agreement concluded with the state of Ukraine, TOV 'Smart-group' received in management VAT 'Inhuletskyi mining and processing plant' (Kryvyi Rih), and over four years the group invested significantly in the plant's development. In 2001, Smart Holding became a shareholder of AT 'Pivdennyi mining and processing plant', which allowed the group to take positions as one of the key players in the market for the supply of iron ore raw materials. In 2003, Smart Holding's investment portfolio expanded and diversified.
