Overview

Sky Radio was an interactive television channel operated by Sky Italia on its satellite platform. Launched on 15 May 2008 under the name 'radio on SKY', it functioned as a mosaic service that aggregated a selection of national and regional Italian radio stations into a single interactive screen, accessible on channel 700 of any Sky Box. The channel was renamed Sky Radio on 27 June 2010. The service offered listeners access to a broad lineup of Italian radio brands, including Radio Deejay, m2o, Radio 105, Virgin Radio Italia, Radio Capital, Radio KissKiss, RTL 102.5, R101, Radio Italia, Radio 24, Radio Radicale, RDS and Radio Monte Carlo. Radio Monte Carlo and Radio 105 were carried exclusively for Sky, while most other stations were already available free-to-air on the Hot Bird satellite and via DAB terrestrial digital radio. Radio Deejay, m2o and Radio Capital were additionally receivable on digital terrestrial television through the Rete A 1 multiplex. Sky Radio underwent graphic restylings in 2015 and 2018, adopting a new visual identity and logo aligned with Sky's channels in the United Kingdom. The channel ceased transmissions on 13 June 2019 following a fire at Sky's Rome headquarters. As a brand, Sky Radio represented Sky Italia's effort to bundle radio listening within its satellite television ecosystem, complementing its television, broadband and mobile offerings.

It was accessible on channel 700 of any Sky Box and aggregated a selection of national and regional Italian radio stations into a single interactive screen. On 27 June 2010, the service was renamed Sky Radio. Radio Deejay, m2o and Radio Capital were also receivable on digital terrestrial television through the Rete A 1 multiplex. The satellite signal covered 100% of the Italian territory, an advantage over analog or digital terrestrial radio coverage. In 2015 and 2018, Sky Radio underwent graphic restylings, adopting a new visual identity and logo that aligned it with Sky's channels in the United Kingdom. On 13 June 2019, following a fire at Sky's Rome headquarters, the channel ceased transmissions. The brand Sky Radio thus ended its operations as a distinct interactive radio service within the Sky Italia platform.
