SK Gaming is a leading esports organisation and one of the world's most recognised brands in competitive video gaming, with history made in Germany since 1997. Founded in 1997 in Oberhausen as "Schroet Kommando", it grew from a passionate group of friends into one of the most recognised esports brands in the world, with offices in Cologne and Berlin, Germany. Over more than two decades it has accumulated more than 75 major championship titles across various games and genres, and it developed some of the most iconic personalities in esports history.

SK Gaming is founded by a Quake clan of four brothers and three close friends. The team gives themselves the name "Schroet Kommando" based on a term used by the team members to identify another player wielding a double barreled shotgun. They focus on Quake multiplayer during their earliest years, using the home of Daniel "Godlike" Beames. SK features the first all-female team that same year. The team expands to Counter-Strike, which is released as a mod for the original Half-Life in 1999, quickly growing into one of Germany's most successful squads in the series.
