Hong Kong publishing censorship controversy
Sino United’s three principal publishing subsidiaries were reported to have withdrawn a book on Hong Kong nationalism after criticism from Chief Executive C. Y. Leung. Further reports alleged that the group promoted books critical of the Occupy movement while excluding or reducing the prominence of books by pro-democracy writers. Up Publications also reported unexpected returns of approximately twenty titles, and students organized a public read-in to protest the alleged marginalization of independent and protest-related books.
