Showa Aluminum Can Corporation

Showa Aluminum Can Corporation was established in 1969 as a joint venture between Showa Aluminum (later merged with Showa Denko) and the U.S. company Kaiser. It began manufacturing aluminum beverage cans in 1971, when Japan's first aluminum can beer was released. The company entered aluminum can recycling in 1995 and acquired Vietnam's Hanacans in 2014. In 2021 it came under Apollo Global Management, and in 2022 it changed its name to ALTEMIRA Co., Ltd. It is scheduled to come under MBK Partners in 2026. The ALTEMIRA Group describes itself as a top-class dedicated aluminum can manufacturer with strengths in high recycling technology and integrated rolling and can-making operations, providing aluminum beverage containers to lead a circular society.

  Opening diameter 86mm, capacity 570ml; world's first aluminum cup using 100% recycled material.
