Overview

Shinyuden is a Japanese game publisher and localization company headquartered in Tokyo, with a registered office in Ome and a studio in Akihabara. Founded as a doujin game circle in January 2013 by Luis García, it was incorporated as a godo kaisha (合同会社) in March 2018. The company specializes in preserving classic and retro video games through high-quality physical editions, often localized into Spanish and other languages, and also handles localization, marketing, and sales for indie games, manga, and anime. Shinyuden's business spans several areas: publishing physical editions of retro and indie titles (including unreleased-in-Spain games), providing localization services (notably Spanish localizations for major Japanese publishers such as Square Enix and Sega), and marketing Japanese games in Western markets. Its catalog includes titles like Final Zone, Gaudí: El Viento de Barcelona, Sorcerer's Kingdom, and Rising Dusk, offered as collector-focused physical releases. The company also organizes a video game music festival in Valencia, Spain, featuring composers such as Nobuo Uematsu, Kumi Tanioka, and Noriyuki Iwadare. As a small but active player in the niche of physical game preservation, Shinyuden has built a reputation among collectors for careful editions and for bringing Japanese classics to Spanish-speaking audiences. It became an official publisher for Sony and Nintendo platforms in 2019 and has since released numerous titles, including its own developed games like Heroes Trials and Red Colony. The company continues to operate from its Tokyo offices, serving both Japanese and international markets.

History

Shinyuden began in January 2013 as a doujin game circle founded by Luis García, who remains the company's representative. The circle initially operated around Akihabara, Tokyo. In February 2013, it undertook its first major localization project: the Spanish version of Square Enix's Final Fantasy series. By September 2013, Shinyuden had started doujin development and a research lab, releasing its first app, the adventure game TOKYO SUPERNIGHT, which surpassed 200,000 cumulative downloads. In September 2014, it released the stealth action app POLLO'S PAIN. August 2016 saw the release of ALT+TAB, a simulation game about slacking off at work, and the circle produced a packaged version of its doujin games for Summer Comiket under the title SHINYUDEN COLLECTION. In March 2018, the circle was incorporated as Shinyuden LLC (合同会社Shinyuden). In June 2018, it released its self-developed adventure game HEROES TRIALS. The company participated in Tokyo Game Show for the first time in September 2018. In January 2019, it released HEROES TRIALS and became an official publisher for Sony and Nintendo platforms. In January 2020, the domestic marketing title Reventure entered Famitsu's Gold Hall of Fame. June 2020 saw the release of Danball Senki Mini Cars (ダンボールミニカーズ), which exceeded 10,000 cumulative sales for the first time. In September 2020, it released the overseas version of the domestic hit Oomori Chari Hashi DX. In December 2020, it released the overseas hit FOX n FORESTS in Japan as Kiseki no Kitsune (キセツのキツネ). In January 2021, the 2D horror action game RED COLONY was released worldwide. In April 2021, Shinyuden localized the first and second seasons and the movie of Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba into Spanish, known in Spain as Guardianes de la Noche: Tren infinito. In September 2022, at Tokyo Game Show, IDEA was selected as a finalist for the Sense of Wonder Night. In February 2023, the company handled Spanish, French, Italian, and German localization for Like a Dragon: Ishin!. In August 2024, it provided Japanese localization for Aero Acrobat Kids, followed by Aero the Acrobat 2 in September 2024 and Zero the Kamikaze Squirrel in October 2024. Today, Shinyuden operates from its registered office in Ome, Tokyo, and a studio in Akihabara, Chiyoda, Tokyo. It continues to publish physical editions of classic and indie games, provide localization and marketing services, and organize events such as a video game music festival in Valencia, Spain.
