Overview
Shinko Denshi Co., Ltd. is a Japanese manufacturer of electronic balances and scales. Its product line includes electronic balances, platform scales, counting scales, intrinsically safe explosion-proof scales, dust-proof and waterproof scales, and transaction-certified scales, produced domestically in Japan, with repair and calibration services also offered. The company consolidated its product brand under 'ViBRA' in 2001. Its history includes the development of the world's first electronic counting scale (DBC series) in 1972 and the world's first tuning-fork electronic balance (SG series) in 1983.
History
Shinko Denshi was founded in 1963 by Yuzuru Nishiguchi, initially producing differential transformer measuring instruments. In 1970 it developed a DC-type differential transformer. In 1972 it developed the world's first electronic counting scale, the DBC series. In 1973 it established the Ibaraki factory (now the Tsukuba Office) and opened the Kansai Office, and developed and launched its first electronic scale, the 'Digipet'. In 1977 it developed Japan's first microcomputer-equipped force-balance counting scale, the DBC series. In 1983 it developed the world's first tuning-fork electronic balance, the SG series. In 1985 it developed the multifunction postal scale 'Postal Vibra' and the tuning-fork electronic balance LG series. In 1987 it developed Japan's first intrinsically safe explosion-proof electronic balance and the postal scale 'Mailpet'. In 1990 it opened the Nagoya Sales Office, developed a tuning-fork large platform scale, and developed the tuning-fork high-precision electronic balance HG series achieving 1/250,000. In 1991 it developed the force-balance precision electronic balance PF series with 1/600,000 and the intrinsically safe explosion-proof electronic balance AGZ-KF series. In 1992 it developed the dimension/weight measuring device 'Measure Boy' and the tuning-fork counting scale CGX series, and launched the tuning-fork electronic balance CG series. In 1994 it developed Japan's first electronic balance for dispensing compliant with the new Measurement Act, the DJM series, and a tuning-fork force sensor for the Subaru telescope; it obtained the first type approval number. In 1996 it developed the world's first high-speed conveyor weighing machine 'Carrier Way'. In 1998 the Tsukuba Office obtained ISO9001 certification. In 1999 the Tsukuba Office was designated as a specified manufacturer. In 2000 it launched the 1/2,200,000 analytical electronic balance AF-R220 and developed the postal scale 'Pospal'. In 2001 it consolidated its product brand under 'ViBRA' and developed the electronic scale-type specific gravity meter DME series. In 2002 it received the Grand Prize at the 27th Invention Award sponsored by Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun and developed the AJ/SJ series electronic balances with a new tuning-fork force sensor. In 2003 it launched the tuning-fork carat balance CT-600 and developed the CA/SA series analytical electronic balances and the DMA series automatic specific gravity meter. In 2004 it developed the waterproof/dust-proof electronic scale HJ-K series. In 2005 it launched the tuning-fork electronic balance HJ series, received the Excellence Award at the 1st Monozukuri Japan Grand Award, and was registered/acquired as a JCSS calibration provider (mass/scales category). In 2006 it acquired ISO14001 company-wide and was selected by the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry as one of the '300 Vibrant Small and Medium Manufacturing Companies'. In 2007 it launched the world's first tuning-fork analytical electronic balance HTR series, its tuning-fork force sensor received the Ibaraki Industrial Award Encouragement Prize, and it obtained Japan's first JIS certification for a general measuring instrument. In 2008 it acquired ATEX/IECEx quality assurance system certification. In 2009 its tuning-fork force sensor technology received the Japan Society of Mechanical Engineers Kanto Branch Technology Award and the 21st SME Excellent New Technology/New Product Award Good Prize. In 2010 the embedded weighing unit UF-620 received the 'Super Monozukuri Parts Award' Encouragement Prize and it launched the intrinsically safe explosion-proof electronic balance CZ series. In 2011 it launched the analytical semi-micro electronic balance XFR series and established the main building and second factory at the Tsukuba Office. In 2013 it celebrated its 50th anniversary and launched the embedded weighing unit UF-3200. In 2014 it launched the high-precision intrinsically safe explosion-proof electronic balance FZ series and developed a tuning-fork high-precision hydrogen explosion-proof electronic balance (Ex ib IIC T3). In 2015 the Tsukuba Office obtained Korean explosion-proof electrical equipment factory certification and the overseas production department obtained EC quality system approval. In 2016 it developed the intrinsically safe explosion-proof Bluetooth output unit 'BTZ'. In 2017 it launched the tuning-fork electronic balance ALE/ALR-R series and the ALE/ALE-R series. In 2019 it launched the softness sensor 'SOFTGRAM'.
