History

The company was established in May 1938. It started manufacturing aluminum fluoride at the Amagasaki plant. In 1942, the Sakai plant was built for aluminum fluoride production. In 1945, selenium production began at the Amagasaki plant. In 1958, it was the first in Japan to industrially produce vanadium pentoxide. In 1970, it was also the first in Japan to manufacture ethylene propylene rubber catalyst (VOCl3). In 1973, the Sakai Rinkai plant was built, significantly increasing vanadium production capacity. In 1981, the Amagasaki plant was relocated to Amagasaki City Ohama-cho, and production facilities for high-purity selenium and selenium compounds were greatly expanded. In 1991, the VOCl3 production facility at the Sakai Rinkai plant was expanded. In 1997, indium production began at the Amagasaki plant, and various chloride production started at the Sakai Rinkai plant. In 1998, ISO9002 certification was registered (head office and Sakai Rinkai plant). In 2003, ISO9001 certification was registered (head office and Sakai Rinkai plant). In 2006, ISO14001 certification was registered (company-wide). In 2007, ISO9001 certification was registered (Second Fine Chemicals Division, Amagasaki plant). In 2008, the head office was moved to Chuo-ku, Osaka. In 2011, high-purity selenium production capacity was increased at the Amagasaki plant. In 2012, tellurium production facilities were expanded at the Amagasaki plant. In 2013, the synthetic rubber catalyst (VOCl3) production facility at the Sakai Rinkai plant was further expanded. In 2016, the production capacity for synthetic rubber catalyst - vanadium acetylacetonate (V(AcAc)3) was increased at the Sakai Rinkai plant, and development of battery material (negative electrode material) lithium titanate began at the Sakai Rinkai plant. In November 2018, the 21-year indium refining process at the Amagasaki plant ended, specializing in indium compound production. In 2020, vanadium production began at the Amagasaki plant, and trial mass production of lithium titanate started at the Sakai Rinkai plant. In 2021, the head office was moved to Phoenix Building, 2-1-3 Minamisenba, Chuo-ku, Osaka.
