Selekt

Selekt is a Spanish generalist subscription television channel operated by AMC Networks International Iberia, part of AMC Networks International Southern Europe. It is a so-called container programme channel: rather than producing its own original content, it assembles selections of programmes drawn from the group's various sister channels, using artificial intelligence to build its schedule. Its regular linear broadcasts began on 4 February 2021. The channel's origins lie in a video-on-demand platform called AMC Selekt, launched on 15 June 2020. That platform allowed viewers to watch on-demand audiovisual content from AMC Networks' channels through the TV Everywhere service of Vodafone TV in Spain. AMC Networks' longer-term intention, however, was to create a linear container channel that would bring together programmes from several sibling channels to meet viewer needs. The sister channels whose content feeds Selekt include AMC, Canal Hollywood, Sundance TV, Dark, Somos, XTRM, Odisea, Canal Cocina, Decasa, Sol Música and VinTV. By combining selections from this portfolio, Selekt offers a broad, generalist schedule. Selekt is distributed as a subscription channel in Spain and is promoted alongside the other AMC channels in the country. Its programming is organised into content containers built from the sister channels' output. The channel is part of AMC Networks International Iberia, the Spanish and Portuguese arm of AMC Networks International Southern Europe.
