History
Seiko NPC Corporation was founded on February 27, 1975, as Nippon Precision Circuits Inc. (NPC), a semiconductor manufacturer established through investment from Daini Seikosha and Suwa Seikosha to commercialize CMOS technology. Its Shiobara factory (now Nasushiobara Office) was completed on October 15 of that year. The company initially produced PLL ICs for CB transceivers and later developed clock ICs for watches using quartz crystals, which were adopted by Seiko and other watchmakers. In 2005, it became a wholly owned subsidiary of Seiko Corporation (now Seiko Group Corporation), and in 2006 it changed its name to Seiko NPC Corporation. The company has since developed crystal oscillator ICs, sensor ICs, and other semiconductor products, and operates its own factory in Nasushiobara, Tochigi Prefecture.
