Overview
Scoach was a European exchange platform dedicated to structured products, founded in 2007 as a joint venture between the Swiss SWX Group (later SIX Swiss Exchange AG) and Deutsche Börse AG. It was created to consolidate the trading of warrants and certificates, and it quickly became the leading European exchange in the structured products segment. The venture operated two platforms: Scoach Europa AG, based in Frankfurt, served the German and broader European market, while Scoach Schweiz AG, based in Zurich, served the Swiss market. The project was first announced on 5 May 2006, when the SWX Group and Deutsche Börse declared their intention to pool their warrants and certificates activities. The contract was signed on 23 October 2006 under the working name "Alex", and operations began on 1 January 2007. On 1 September 2007 the joint venture adopted the name Scoach. A major milestone came on 28 April 2008, when Scoach migrated trading in around 300,000 products in Germany from the floor of the Frankfurt Stock Exchange to a new version of the fully electronic Xetra trading platform. This gave more than 260 connected banks and securities trading firms direct access to what was described as the broadest range of structured products worldwide. The joint venture was dissolved in mid-2013. From 1 July 2013, Scoach Europa AG became a wholly owned subsidiary of Deutsche Börse AG, and Scoach Schweiz AG became a wholly owned subsidiary of SIX Swiss Exchange AG. The two platforms were then operated independently. On 1 November 2013, Scoach Europa AG was renamed Börse Frankfurt Zertifikate AG, and Scoach Schweiz AG was renamed SIX Structured Products Exchange AG. The Scoach brand thus disappeared in Germany. The website zertifikateboerse.de is associated with the German certificates exchange that succeeded Scoach.
