Scientific and Industrial Research and Development Centre

The Scientific and Industrial Research and Development Centre (SIRDC) is a Zimbabwean research and development organisation established by the Government of Zimbabwe in February 1993 under the provisions of the Research Act of 1986. Its mandate is to carry out strategic research and development for the benefit of the manufacturing, service, agricultural and mining sectors and to commercialise R&D outputs. It operates through research and development clusters covering agriculture, built environment and transportation systems, energy and power, health, ICT, and industry and manufacturing, and offers products and services including foundation seed, mushroom spawn and mushrooms, indigenous chickens, tissue culture and molecular biology services, biogas digesters, rammed earth construction, and solar charge controllers.

• Mushroom Spawn and Mushrooms

  Mushroom spawn for oyster and button mushroom; fresh and dried oyster and button mushrooms; oyster mushroom kits.

• Indigenous Chickens

  Indigenous chickens including Burf Orpington, Light Sussex, Black Australorp and Potchefstroom Koekoek.

• Biogas Digesters

  Fixed-dome biogas digesters in different sizes, including design, construction and maintenance.

• Solar Charge Controller

  Solar charge controller listed under Energy and Power products and services.
