Founded in 1847 by Eduard Schwenk in Ulm, the company is led in the fifth generation by Eduard Schleicher. History

SCHWENK was founded in 1847 by Eduard Schwenk in Ulm. Over several generations the company grew into a group consisting of multiple subsidiaries and participations. Its parent company is SCHWENK Zement GmbH & Co. KG, led in the fifth generation by Eduard Schleicher. Eduard Schwenk acquired the Klostermühle in Söflingen, laying the foundation for today's Ulm enterprise; after his death his wife Marie Schwenk continued the cement factory, bought the Thalmühle in Blaubeuren and built a second grinding plant there. Their son Carl Schwenk led the company into industrialization, acquired land in Allmendingen and opened the cement works in Mergelstetten in 1901. Dr. Carl Schwenk's era was marked by modernization and crisis management; he built gravel and crushed-stone works and acquired the Portland-Cementfabrik in Karlstadt am Main, and the post-1948 recovery also occurred under his aegis.
