Overview

Schwäbisch Hall Kreditservice GmbH was a German financial services company active in credit, building savings (Bausparen) and promotional loan (Förderkredit) processing. It was founded in 2000 as a joint venture between Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall and Deutsche Genossenschafts-Hypothekenbank (DG HYP), which combined their IT and processing divisions. The company employed around 1,000 people and served as a processing and consulting partner primarily for Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall and DZ Bank. From 1 January 2006, Hypotheken Management GmbH became a wholly owned subsidiary of Schwäbisch Hall Kreditservice, providing processing and consulting services for banks, building societies and insurers outside the cooperative financial group. Until 31 March 2012 the company operated under the name VR Kreditwerk AG; the renaming and new corporate identity were intended to emphasise its belonging to the Schwäbisch Hall Group. It also held a 100% subsidiary, VR Kreditservice GmbH, based in Hamburg, which offers services and solutions for cooperative banks, including the software solution 'Baufi FastLane' for automated credit decisions and processing of private mortgage financing, used nationwide by many VR-Banken, PSD-Banken and Sparda-Banken in cooperation with Fiducia & GAD IT. Pursuant to a merger agreement dated 24 February 2026, Schwäbisch Hall Kreditservice GmbH was merged retroactively with effect from 1 January 2026 into Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall AG. Since that merger, VR Kreditservice GmbH has been a wholly owned subsidiary of Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall. The brand therefore no longer exists as an independent legal entity, though its processing and consulting functions continue within the Schwäbisch Hall Group.

History

Schwäbisch Hall Kreditservice GmbH was established in 2000 when Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall and Deutsche Genossenschafts-Hypothekenbank (DG HYP) merged their IT and processing departments into a joint venture. The company focused on credit, building savings and promotional loan business, employing around 1,000 staff and serving clients including Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall and DZ Bank. On 1 January 2006, Hypotheken Management GmbH became a wholly owned subsidiary of Schwäbisch Hall Kreditservice. Hypotheken-Management operated as a processing and consulting service provider for banks, building societies and insurers outside the cooperative financial group. Another subsidiary, VR Kreditservice GmbH, specialised in processing and consulting for cooperative banks, particularly in process optimisation. Until 31 March 2012, the company traded under the name VR Kreditwerk AG. The renaming to Schwäbisch Hall Kreditservice and the accompanying new corporate identity were designed to underline its cohesion within the Schwäbisch Hall Group. VR Kreditservice GmbH, headquartered in Hamburg, remained a 100% subsidiary of Schwäbisch Hall Kreditservice GmbH. It offered services and solutions for cooperative banks, including the software solution 'Baufi FastLane', which enables automated credit decisions and processing of private mortgage financing. Baufi FastLane was used nationwide by numerous VR-Banken, PSD-Banken and Sparda-Banken, provided in cooperation with Fiducia & GAD IT. Under a merger agreement dated 24 February 2026, Schwäbisch Hall Kreditservice GmbH was merged retroactively with effect from 1 January 2026 into Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall AG. Following the merger, VR Kreditservice GmbH became a wholly owned subsidiary of Bausparkasse Schwäbisch Hall. The Schwäbisch Hall Kreditservice brand thus ceased to exist as a separate legal entity, with its functions absorbed into the parent building society.
