Overview

Schneider Busbetriebe is a transport company in Switzerland, with roots dating back over 100 years to a horse-drawn carriage business. It operates public bus lines and has been involved in regional transport developments.

History

The company's roots go back over 100 years to the horse-drawn carriage business of Johannes Matthias Schneider and his son Heinrich Jakob Schneider. In 1920, Albert Schneider-Elsener bought the first truck. In 1946, the public bus line Rapperswil-Eschenbach-Rüti was put into operation. In 1961, Oskar Schneider-Flepp took over the business. In 1974, the sole proprietorship was converted into a family corporation. In 1992, the three regional bus operators Postauto, Autobus Weesen-Amden and Schneider Busbetrieb merged to form the LinthBus company. In 2007, two subsidiaries were founded: O. Schneider Linienbus AG for public transport and Schneider-Reisen AG for coach travel.
