Saturnal Records

Saturnal Records was a Finnish record label that operated from 2014 to 2022, based in Tampere and later in Helsinki. It specialised in releasing extreme metal, primarily black and death metal music. The label was founded by Aleister "fra. Zetekh" Kainulainen, known from the bands Saturnian Mist and King Satan, together with personnel from the small labels Saturnian Productions, Monokrom and Pavitra Kunta Productions, which can therefore be considered predecessors of Saturnal Records. Kainulainen left the company in 2017 when the label's business was sold to new ownership and operations moved to Helsinki. The label released works by bands such as Barathrum, Hoath, IC Rex, Abyssion and Voodoo Gods. In addition to its record releases, Saturnal Records operated a physical store, Heretic Underground – Kerettiläinen levykauppa, opened in 2016 on Hämeenpuisto in Tampere, which also served as the label's official online shop. The label also had its own recording studio, Blackvox Studio, where, in addition to Saturnal Records artists, bands such as Horna and Anal Blasphemy also recorded. The label's roster included Abyssion, Barathrum, Blood Red Fog, Funerary Bell, Hellspirit, Hoath, IC Rex, King Satan, Kyy, Sacrificium Carmen, Saturnian Mist, Scorpio Doctrine, Teloch, Voodoo Gods and Vuohi.
