SASA Spa - Ag

SASA SpA AG is described on its official website as the largest public transport company in Alto Adige by number of buses, lines and passengers. It is the in-house company of the Autonomous Province of Bolzano, which together with the municipalities of Bolzano, Merano and Laives holds its shares. Its history began over 75 years ago, with the first bus line entering service in 1948. Today it operates around 80 lines between city and territory with approximately 600 employees.

SASA's history began over 75 years ago. The first SASA bus line entered service in 1948. In 2013, the first hydrogen-powered buses were introduced on the streets of Bolzano. In 2017, the Province became a partner and SASA began operating in compliance with in-house providing regulations. In 2021, the Autonomous Province of Bolzano became the majority shareholder, and SASA also began managing extra-urban lines, becoming the largest public transport operator in the province. Today, with around 600 employees, it manages 80 lines between city and territory.
