Sankar's Health Care Scans & Diagnostics (SHCD) is a network of diagnostic centres based in Alappuzha, Kerala, India. It was established in 1990 by the late S. Rengan Reddiyar with the mission of providing high-quality diagnostic services to the local community. Under the leadership of Dr. R. Manikkumar, the organisation has expanded across Kerala and now operates 27 branches with over 300 staff members. The centre offers a comprehensive range of services including laboratory testing, CT and MRI scans, ultrasound, TMT, ECHO and ECG tests, as well as home blood sample collection. SHCD is notable for being the only laboratory in Kerala to hold both international CAP accreditation and the Government of India's NABL accreditation. Sankar's Health Care Scans & Diagnostics was founded in Alappuzha, Kerala, in 1990 by the late S. Rengan Reddiyar. Initially known as Sankar's Lab X-Ray & ECG, it started as a certified laboratory in Alappuzha District with the mission to provide high-quality diagnostic services to the people. Over the years, it grew significantly and became one of Alappuzha's leading clinical diagnostic centres. Following the founder's passing, Dr. R. Manikkumar, a pioneer in diagnostic services, took over as Managing Director and continues to lead the organisation. Under his leadership, SHCD has expanded its network across Kerala, now operating 27 branches with over 300 expert staff. The centre has achieved dual accreditation from the College of American Pathologists (CAP) and the National Accreditation Board for Testing and Calibration Laboratories (NABL), making it the only laboratory in Kerala to hold both. With over 30 years of experience, SHCD remains dedicated to bringing international standards of medical care to the region.
