It is published by Idefix, an online book retailer, and has become one of Turkey's most visible contemporary literature periodicals. The magazine combines book reviews, essays, interviews, poetry, short fiction, and criticism, with a strong emphasis on current social and political debates around literature and publishing. Its editorial identity is shaped by a distinctive visual language and a willingness to address controversial topics. SabitFikir has produced widely discussed research features on subjects such as the Prime Ministry Board for the Protection of Minors from Obscene Publications, Blogspot bans, social media and literature, and the history of book bans in Turkey. It also publishes a regular weekly Freedom of Thought Bulletin. The magazine's general publication direction has been led by Elif Bereketli (2010–2014), Ceyhan Usanmaz (2014–2018), and Mustafa Akar. Beyond publishing, SabitFikir has organized public conversations, including the "Sözünü Sakınmadan" ("Without Mincing Words") series at Istanbul Modern, where Semih Gümüş and Ömer Türkeş interviewed guest authors such as Murathan Mungan, Hakan Günday, Elif Şafak, Küçük İskender, Sema Kaygusuz, Emrah Serbes, Latife Tekin, Cemil Kavukçu, Enis Batur, Hakan Bıçakcı, Füruzan, Selim İleri, and Yekta Kopan. In 2012, SabitFikir received second prize in the periodicals category of the Graphic Products Awards for its visual design. The magazine remains active online at sabitfikir.com, where it continues to publish reviews, news, interviews, and commentary on Turkish and world literature.

History

Sabit Fikir was launched in 2009 as an online-only literary magazine, at a time when Turkish literary periodicals were increasingly experimenting with digital formats. In 2011, it added a print edition, broadening its reach beyond the web. The magazine is published by Idefix, an online book retailer, which gives it a direct link to the Turkish book trade. From 2010 to 2014, the general publication direction was held by Elif Bereketli; from 2014 to 2018, by Ceyhan Usanmaz; and subsequently by Mustafa Akar. Under this editorial leadership, Sabit Fikir built a reputation for a distinctive visual language and for engaging with current social and political developments. Its contributor base has included well-known Turkish writers and critics such as Ömer Türkeş, Murat Gülsoy, Kaya Genç, Küçük İskender, and Haydar Ergülen. The magazine has produced research features that attracted public attention, including work on the Prime Ministry Board for the Protection of Minors from Obscene Publications, Blogspot bans, social media and literature, and the history of book bans in Turkey. It also prepares a weekly Freedom of Thought Bulletin. In 2012, Sabit Fikir was awarded second place in the periodicals category of the Graphic Products Awards for its visual design. Beyond publishing, Sabit Fikir organized the "Sözünü Sakınmadan" conversation series at Istanbul Modern, featuring guests such as Murathan Mungan, Hakan Günday, Elif Şafak, Küçük İskender, Sema Kaygusuz, Emrah Serbes, Latife Tekin, Cemil Kavukçu, Enis Batur, Hakan Bıçakcı, Füruzan, Selim İleri, and Yekta Kopan. In these events, Semih Gümüş and Ömer Türkeş posed candid questions to the guest authors, and the series drew strong interest. The magazine continues to operate online at sabitfikir.com.
