RUSC. Universities and Knowledge Society Journal is an open-access, interdisciplinary, peer-reviewed academic journal focused on e-learning, the university, and the knowledge society. It is published by the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), and from 2013 also by the University of New England (UNE), under the guidance of an international editorial board. The journal adopts a global approach to virtual learning, the university, and the knowledge society, aiming to publish contributions accessible to both non-specialists and academic and professional experts. Its thematic scope includes university models in the knowledge society; training models and the use of technology in higher education; open-access systems for learning materials and open educational resources; technological and pedagogical models and innovations; transformations in administrative or learning processes in higher education through ICT; organizational and management perspectives on ICT use in higher education institutions; leadership and governance of universities in the knowledge society; and models of university presence and service using the Internet. The journal follows a peer-review process, with all articles reviewed by an expert, and its arbitration system uses evaluators external to the publishing entity or institution. It provides immediate free access to its contents based on the principle that making research freely available to the public supports the global exchange of knowledge. RUSC has been accepted and indexed in directories, catalogs, libraries, and databases including DICE, DOAJ, LATINDEX, OAISTER, Educational Research Premier (EBSCO), Fuente Academica (EBSCO), DIALNET, MIAR, DULCINEA, SHERPA/RoMEO, ULRICH's Periodicals, Contemporary Science Association, and SCOPUS. It has also been incorporated into the scientific journals of the International Congress on Education, Innovation and Learning Technologies (ICEILT 2014).
