History
Roma Medical was founded in 1970. Its origins date back to 1970 when Mr Gordon Johnson and Mr Harry Matthews started a company called The Easi-Glide Wheelchair Company in Cardiff, South Wales. After trading for six years, they sold the business to Invacare and worked for the Invacare Group for two years. In 1978, they started a new company, Roma Engineering, named from the first two letters of their wives' names (RO from Rose and MA from Margaret). Roma Engineering was established on the Llandow Business Park, South Glamorgan, manufacturing rehabilitation equipment and other tubular products for the NHS. Later, the name was changed to Roma Medical Aids, and the company was incorporated.
