Overview

ROFA Bekleidungswerk GmbH & Co. KG is a German manufacturer of personal protective equipment (PPE), protective clothing and workwear for industry and skilled trades. Based in Schüttorf, Lower Saxony, the company traces its origins to 1897 and describes itself as one of the last manufacturers in Germany to develop workwear and PPE entirely in-house, including its own fabric production in Germany. Its product range covers protective clothing from multi-norm garments to welding protection, as well as workwear collections such as TEAMWORK and MOVE-EASY. ROFA positions itself as a PSA expert from Germany, with the guiding principle 'Protect what you care for.' The company serves sectors including industry, energy supply and skilled trades, and remains a privately held, family-style business with a long regional tradition. It is a founding member of DASA, Germany's largest working-world exhibition, and is active in textile and industry associations such as Nordwest textil+mode and the Deutscher Textilreinigungsverband.

History

ROFA was founded in 1897 and has since built a long tradition in textile manufacturing. In 1912, the company acquired Siedemann & Co. in Schüttorf through a foreclosure auction. During World War II, its factory building in Osnabrück was destroyed in 1945; from 1946 onward, ROFA produced only in Schüttorf. In 1961, the company expanded its factory building in Schüttorf and began manufacturing professional clothing. The first self-produced workwear was sold in 1963. In 1964, the company was renamed ROFA G. Schlikker & Co. In 1977, the Proban process passed 100 wash cycles for the first time, opening up more application areas, and the company was renamed ROFA Bekleidungswerk GmbH & Co. KG. In 1984, refuse collector clothing became a warehouse sale item. The company celebrated its 125th anniversary in 2022, marking over a century of textile expertise, quality and reliability. Today, ROFA is one of the leading manufacturers of personal protective equipment and workwear, with its own fabric production in Germany.
