Overview
Robovision was started in 2008 by Jonathan Berte as a consultancy focused on computer vision and robotics. It developed Robovision AI, a scalable computer vision platform built on machine learning, and today positions itself around outcome assurance at the infrastructure level — monitoring, controlling, and standardizing vision systems so performance holds as production conditions change and operations scale. The company works side by side with customers in food and beverage, packaging and logistics, and semiconductor manufacturing, and states its goal as driving measurable performance and ROI gains for OEMs and their end customers.
History
Robovision was started in 2008 by Jonathan Berte as a consultancy focused on computer vision and robotics. In 2013, in collaboration with ISO Group, it developed a robotic cutting planter powered by computer vision. Tim Waegeman joined as CTO in 2014, leading development of Robovision AI, a scalable computer vision platform built on machine learning; in 2015 the platform was streamlined into a market-ready product and became the driving force behind multiple first-of-its-kind projects. In 2019 three horticulture solutions featuring 3D vision were launched and expansion into manufacturing, healthcare, and retail began. Robovision received EY's Scale-up of the Year Award in 2020. In 2022 the company secured €10M in funding, grew to 100 teammates, and appointed Thomas Van den Driessche as CEO, with Jonathan Berte becoming Chairman of the Board. A new headquarters opened in 2023, and in 2024 $42M was secured from four new investors — Target Global, Astanor Ventures, Red River West, and PE Capital — setting the stage for expansion across Europe, Asia, and the United States. On 1 October 2025, Leon van de Pas joined the Board as CEO, initiating a pivotal shift in strategy, while Jonathan Berte focused on growing the horticulture business unit.
