Robert Welch

Robert Welch is a British brand with an international reputation for well-designed, functional and durable cutlery and tableware. Founded in 1955 by Robert Radford Welch, a silversmithing graduate of the Royal College of Art, the family-run company began in a disused 18th-century Silk Mill in Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire, where it remains based. Its product range includes classic cutlery, kitchen knives, cookware, gifts, tabletop and bathroom fittings, and it supplies over 100 countries.

Robert Radford Welch studied silversmithing at the Royal College of Art. Upon graduating in 1955, he left London for the Gloucestershire countryside, renting a small room in a disused 18th-century Silk Mill in Chipping Campden, starting with just a drawing board, a sheet of paper and a pencil. The company he founded, Robert Welch Designs, has been based in Chipping Campden since 1955 and remains in the same building. It grew from this quiet start in the English Cotswold Hills into a brand with global reach, supplying over 100 countries while retaining its Cotswold identity. Its designs can be found in homes, cathedrals, universities, embassies, hotels, restaurants, cruise liners, airlines and museums worldwide.
