History
The Rifugio Willy Jervis was established in 1947 by the Club Alpino Italiano (CAI) in the Conca del Pra, a high valley within the municipality of Bobbio Pellice in the Metropolitan City of Turin, Piedmont. It was named in honour of Guglielmo (Willy) Jervis, a mechanical engineer, alpinist and member of the Club Alpino Accademico Italiano (CAAI), who was a resistance fighter during World War II. Jervis was executed by the SS on 5 August 1944 in the main square of Villar Pellice. The hut underwent a complete renovation in 1980, modernising its facilities while maintaining its role as a key stopover in the Cottian Alps. Over the decades, it has become a popular base for hikers on the Via Alpina (Blue Trail) and for mountaineers climbing peaks such as Monte Granero, Monte Meidassa, Monte Manzol and Monte Palavas. The rifugio remains an active commercial hospitality operation under CAI management, offering accommodation and meals to visitors.
