Overview

Rifugio Becchi Rossi is a mountain hut (rifugio) located in the hamlet of Ferrere, in the municipality of Argentera, in the province of Cuneo, Piedmont, Italy. It sits in the upper Stura di Demonte valley, within the Maritime Alps. The hut was inaugurated in 1998 and is owned by the local curia (diocese). It is managed by Greta Magnaldi and Igor Curletto, who took over as managers in May 2025. The rifugio offers 20 beds distributed across rooms of 8, 6, and 4 beds, plus a room with a double bed. Guests are required to bring a sleeping bag or sheet bag for the dormitories. Shared internal bathrooms with hot water are available. The hut provides dining, bar service, and overnight accommodation. It is a base for numerous mountain hikes and climbs in the surrounding area, including the Enciastraia, Rocca dei Tre Vescovi, Becchi Rossi, Cima del Bal, and Cima delle Lose. The rifugio is accessible via a paved road that branches off from the SS21 near Bersezio and climbs to Ferrere; in winter, the road is exposed to avalanche risk and the forest road from Villaggio Primavera is recommended. The hut is located in the center of Ferrere, near the Church of San Giacomo. It also serves as a stop on the Grande Traversata del Mercantour (GTM) and offers connections to other huts such as Rifugio Talarico, Rifugio de Vens (France), and Rifugio della Pace (Argentera).
