The acquisition resulted in the name Reynolds Cycle Technology Ltd. Coyote Sports subsequently entered Chapter 11 reorganization in the United States, after which a management buyout returned the Reynolds operation to its United Kingdom base. In 2006 the company became Reynolds Technology Ltd., a name intended to represent growing activity in non-cycle tubing markets. The company also broadened its materials expertise beyond bicycle steel. Its published product families have included aluminium alloys such as 6061 and 7005, titanium grades including 3Al-2.5V and 6Al-4V, the X-100 aluminium-lithium alloy, and magnesium tubing marketed as MZM Electron. A United States division, Reynolds Composites, was established to manufacture composite components. These activities reflected the broader engineering scope implied by the Reynolds Technology name, although bicycle tubing remained the company’s most recognizable field. The shift from steel to aluminium, titanium, and carbon composites reduced the former dominance of Reynolds steel among new high-end bicycle frames. Nevertheless, Reynolds retained an important heritage position with custom frame builders and riders who value repairable metal frames, carefully specified wall thicknesses, and the historical association of Reynolds tubing with competitive cycling.
