Overview
The Revista Jurídica de Cataluña (in Catalan, Revista Jurídica de Catalunya) is a quarterly journal of legal sciences published in Catalonia, Spain. It was founded in 1895 by the Colegio de Abogados de Barcelona (Barcelona Bar Association) together with the Real Academia de Jurisprudencia y Legislación de Cataluña (Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Catalonia). Over more than a century it has served as a leading forum for Catalan legal scholarship, publishing doctrinal articles, case commentary, and legislative analysis. The journal's contributors have included many of the most prominent Catalan jurists of their day, such as Guillem Maria de Brocà, José Pella y Forgas, Manuel Durán y Bas, Rafael Gay de Montellà, Raimon Duran Ventosa, Ramón de Abadal y de Vinyals, and Enric Prat de la Riba, who for many years was responsible for its Misceláneas Jurídicas section. Publication was interrupted during the Spanish Civil War and was re-established in 1945. In 2002 the journal received the Creu de Sant Jordi, one of the highest distinctions awarded by the Generalitat de Catalunya. The Revista Jurídica de Cataluña remains associated with the Barcelona Bar Association (Il·lustre Col·legi de l'Advocacia de Barcelona, ICAB), whose website serves as its online point of contact. It is indexed and evaluated by Spanish academic journal quality-assessment systems for the humanities, social sciences, and law. As a long-running, institutionally backed legal periodical, it occupies a distinctive place in Catalan legal culture, bridging professional practice and academic jurisprudence.
