Overview

Retesole is an Italian local television broadcaster operating in the regions of Lazio, Umbria and Tuscany. It was created in 1998 through the merger of two existing stations: Teleumbria, founded in Perugia in 1974, and PersonaTv, a Rome-based television founded in 1989. Today the network maintains two main offices, one in Rome and one in Perugia, reflecting its dual geographic heritage. The channel's early history includes a sports programme hosted by the renowned journalist Gianni Brera, broadcast in connection from Milan. Over the decades Retesole has continued to produce local news, sports and cultural programming. In 2012 the network briefly collaborated with the Italian-English guitarist Richard Benson, who presented seven episodes of the music criticism show "Ottava nota". In 2017 the well-known journalist and television presenter Michele Cucuzza hosted "Michele Incontra" for the station, recorded at the Cinecittà World studios, as part of a relaunch project led by director Marco Finelli. Since 2018, former labour minister Cesare Damiano and actor Fabio Ferrari have also collaborated with the broadcaster. Retesole broadcasts in Umbria on digital terrestrial channel 11, while viewers in Lazio need to tune to channel 110. Its programming schedule has included shows such as "Ambasciatori a Roma", "Vite da Campioni", "Il Caffè", "Corso Vannucci" and "Sportivissima". The station is privately held and remains active in the Italian regional television landscape.

History

Retesole was formed in 1998 through the merger of Teleumbria and PersonaTv. Teleumbria was founded in Perugia in 1974 and broadcast across Umbria, while PersonaTv was a Rome-based television station established in 1989. Among the earliest broadcasts remembered from the station's history is a sports programme hosted by the famous journalist Gianni Brera, transmitted in connection from Milan. In 2012, the channel briefly benefited from the collaboration of Richard Benson, the Italian-English guitarist, who hosted seven episodes of the music criticism programme "Ottava nota". He later moved to the local station One Television to present "Rock Machine". In 2017, the well-known journalist and television presenter Michele Cucuzza hosted the programme "Michele Incontra" for Retesole, recorded at the Cinecittà World studios. He was engaged by director Marco Finelli as part of a relaunch project for the television station. Since 2018, former labour minister Cesare Damiano and the actor Fabio Ferrari have also collaborated with the broadcaster. The station's directors have included Silvio Peccetti (from 21 May 1975, Teleumbria), Giancarlo Scoccia (from 21 September 1976, Teleumbria), Sergio Galli (from 10 February 1977, Teleumbria), Mario Pistellini (from 25 February 1992), Egidio Urbanella (from 27 July 2010) and Marco Finelli (from 25 August 2016). Retesole broadcasts in Umbria on digital terrestrial channel 11, while in Lazio viewers must tune to channel 110.
