Overview

Reissue Records (株式会社リイシューレコーズ, REISSUE RECORDS inc.) is a Japanese entertainment and music company founded as the personal office of singer-songwriter Kenshi Yonezu. It is a full member of the Federation of Music Producers Japan (日本音楽制作者連盟) and an associate member of the Music Publishers Association of Japan (日本音楽出版社協会). The company operates the official website reissuerecords.net, which serves as the primary online hub for Yonezu's news, media appearances, live information, discography, profile, diary and merchandise. The Reissue Records name first appeared in August 2011 as the title of the website launched for "Hachi," the Vocaloid producer identity under which Yonezu built an early following. The corporate entity was established in April 2013, ahead of Yonezu's major debut, and the label has since been used for reissues of his earlier Hachi-era albums and for the re-release of his first album diorama. Its roster is effectively Yonezu himself, under both his own name and the Hachi alias. Beyond recorded music, Reissue Records functions as a management and rights operation. It handles the artist's official web presence, trademark assets such as the cat-shaped logo registered in 2020, and promotional activities including the traveling photo spot "Reissue Neko-chan Bus" in 2023. The website regularly carries news of digital releases, tours, media appearances and ticket sales, reflecting the company's role as the central coordination point for Yonezu's commercial activities in Japan and abroad.

History

Reissue Records began not as a company but as a website. In August 2011, Kenshi Yonezu, then active as the Vocaloid producer "Hachi," launched a homepage under the name REISSUE RECORDS at reissuerecords.net. That site became the online base for his activities and later evolved into the official hub for his solo career. Ahead of Yonezu's major debut, the corporate entity Reissue Records Inc. (株式会社リイシューレコーズ) was established in April 2013. The following month, in May 2013, Yonezu made his major debut with the single "Santa Maria" released through Universal Sigma. In October 2013, Reissue Records itself released reissues of the Hachi-era albums Hanataba to Suisō and OFFICIAL ORANGE, marking the label's use as a vehicle for reissuing earlier material. In September 2016, Yonezu moved from Universal Music to Sony Music Records with the single "LOSER/Nanbā Nain." In May 2017, Reissue Records released a reissue of his first album diorama, which completed the process by which all of his CD works became available from major labels. In September 2019, his tenth single "Uma to Shika" was released through SME Records within Sony Music Labels, another label move. In August 2020, the cat-shaped illustration that serves as the Reissue Records logo was registered as a trademark, with the application filed in September 2019. In July 2023, to commemorate the release of the CD single "Chikyūgi," the company ran a traveling photo spot called the "Reissue Neko-chan Bus." Throughout, the company has remained Yonezu's personal office, representing him and the Hachi alias, and maintaining his official website, which carries news, media, live, discography, profile, diary and goods sections.
